Code of Ethics

Ideal I-1.3

This ideal, as stated in the NAEYC code of ethics, aligns closely with my personal beliefs of children. As an early childhood educator, I value each child individually and respect their differences. I love to help children learn through their unique strengths and abilities. Through this ideal, I can create an environment that fosters the individual characteristics of each child that will help them reach their fullest potential.

Through my first graduate course, I grasped the idea of how crucial family involvement is during the early years of development. Without the support of family, early childhood education would not progress as well as it has. The above ideal, as stated in the Division for Early Childhood’s Code of Ethics, ties in closely to my new found understanding of family support. In addition, this ideal also connects to one of my professional goals that focuses on positive family connections. I aspire to help families advocate for their child and connect into the community for additional assistance. As an emerging early childhood professional, it is my aim to encourage ALL families to become active educational partners.

As an early childhood educator, not only do I have a responsibilty to provide high-quality education, I also have a responsibility to the society at large. I have to work with my fellow colleagues to advocate and promote awareness of the importance of early childhood education. Through this ideal, as states in NAEYC’s code of ethics challenges me to raise my voice on behalf of the children I work with. I need to stay abreast of current research that affects public policy that will impact our future generations. I want to help make our society more aware of the profund affects early childhood education has on the life of a child.

In addition to advocating for the importance of early childhood education in general, I also need to rally for high-quality  education for all children. If every child were granted an equal opportunity to high-quality education, our society and economic would be impacted by a well-educated future generation. This ideal, as stated in The Division for Early Childhood’s code of ethics, encourages me to advocate for high-quality education for all children, which will positively affect the value of their lives.
